Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has a cast on his foot after reportedly injuring himself in a surfing accident.

The Viva La Vida singer was spending time in the Hamptons area in New York last week when he hurt his right ankle while hitting the waves, according to British newspaper The Sun.

The husband of Gwyneth Paltrow holidayed in the area in between recording sessions for the band's new album.

The 33-year-old has now been left with a plaster cast on his foot.
